Burgundy Wine Tour - Demystifying Burgundy

Mystifying and complicated, Burgundy’s landscape is a region laced with grapevines that highlight its unique terroir and hold the secrets to its winemaking traditions. We’ll travel with Jean-Pierre Nié, who proclaims he has “Burgundy flowing through his blood” and we move throughout the region, unravelling the mysteries of Burgundy’s winemaking traditions. We'll meet in Paris for a special inaugural dinner where you'll meet your fellow wine adventurers. Early the next morning we depart for charismatic Chablis, a wonderful stop on our way to Beaune, our home base for the rest of our adventure. From our wonderful 4-star lodging in Beaune, Monsieur Nie will lead you throughout the entire Côte d'Or, as well as the Mâcon area, famous for its delicious Chardonnays. During our travels, you’ll discover the region’s centuries-old oenological secrets and gain an insider's knowledge as you enjoy winetastings at distinguished vineyards such as Château du Clos de Vougeot, Château Philippe le Hardi, Domaine Patrick Javillier, and Domaine Roger Luquet. Cultural visits include guided tours of the Hospices de Beaune, Fontenay and Cluny Abbeys. By the end of the trip, your experiences in this region will make you an honorary "citoyen de Bourgogne"...one who intimately understands its wines. Our local experts will take you to visit several winemakers who produce excellent quality wines that you can afford to drink every day at home as well as recommend to your friends as undiscovered treasures of Burgundy.

Provence & the Rhône Valley Wine Tour - The Mighty Rhône

The Rhône Valley is one of the most versatile wine regions of France, home to literally hundreds of wines. Our wine tour of Provence & the Rhône Valley begins in the charming village of Lyon. In this celebrated city, we blend the region's history with tastings of its finest wines in single-vineyards. Largely unknown outside of France 50 years ago, the northern Rhône is now famous as the birthplace of Syrah. This region also features Viognier, which were almost extinct until the late 20th century when Rhône growers cultivated its renaissance. As the Rhône flows south, we’ll enter the rugged Mediterranean area of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, and the Côtes du Rhône. You’ll marvel at the picturesque landscape as well as the wines, which are coveted for their complexity and their power. And, as the Costières de Nîmes is proving, the southern Rhône is an area that continues to develop and surprise for years to come. Throughout our trek along the Mighty Rhône, no matter where you are, you will discover first-hand how the desire for excellence and the winegrowers’ devoted labor of love have given the Rhone wines their real personality!
